Frequently Asked Questions
Does this remove a real "open" password (one required just to view the file)?
Not currently — the password field isn't used by the current process. This tool can remove owner-level permission restrictions (like print/copy/edit locks) on files that don't require a password to open, but it cannot decrypt a file that requires a real password to view.
Is it legal to unlock a PDF?
Unlocking PDFs you own or have permission to access is legal. Do not use this tool to infringe copyright.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The entire process happens in your browser.
